  • Learning and Development

    It’s easy to get started! In this series of 8 classes, our experienced potters take you through the entire process of learning how to make a piece of pottery, from throwing it on a wheel, designing, firing, and glazing. Learn a variety of techniques and processes such as classic throwing style, trimming process, glazing and electric kiln firing basics. A new workshop starts each month.

    Excited to try your hand at pottery but not sure if you're going to be good at it? Our one-time pottery wheel session is perfect for beginners. Learn the basics of throwing your own ceramic pieces and take your creations home with you.

    Come and draw from a live model in various mediums, with the model provided in person, as well as appropriate lighting, seating and easels. Gesture drawings will begin the session, leading into extended poses for more elaborate works. Bring your drawing materials. FREE for ages 18 and up and registration required.

    Experience the vibrant flavors and artful techniques of Asian cuisine in this spring rolls culinary class. Celebrate the arrival of fresh ingredients and the essence of spring as you learn to craft an array of delightful spring rolls—from traditional classics to innovative twists. This immersive hands-on experience will guide you through the intricacies of preparing fillings, mastering wrapping techniques, and exploring diverse dipping sauces that elevate each bite to a culinary delight.

    This two-day advanced workshop with Charles Peer will focus on how to plan and execute a strong pastel painting by developing interesting ideas, compositions, painting techniques, and color choices. The goal is not to complete a couple of masterpieces during the workshop, but rather to learn a variety of tools and painting approaches to incorporate into your own personal style. Each day includes intermittent illustrated discussions, demos, guided practice exercises, and individual painting time with assista

    “Dreamers and Feelers” is the theme of the night! When a blank page is presented to a writer, an opportunity strikes to create a story of dreams and recreate the nostalgia of memories. This night is about no fear, especially of the blank page. Join us at the King Opera House for open mic night! Register for free to secure a limited slot to perform your spoken word poetry.     Children explore elements of art and basic art skills while engaging in fun art projects, music, and story time.

    Join us in the galleries for an intimate evening with award-winning and renown artist Charles Peer. You’ll be amazed as Peer demonstrates creating a pastel painting from start to finish. You’ll pick up on his techniques for pastel painting as he shares his insights into the medium. The event will culminate in a Q&A session – a truly unique opportunity to engage with the artist and the community. A selection of Peer’s artwork will be available for purchase. By the end of the program, you will put your skills to stage in an enthralling full-scale production!
