The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is proposing to widen Highway 59 between Sherwood Street to Pointer Trail Road in Crawford County, Arkansas. The purpose of this project is traffic improvement and safety.
The proposed project consists of widening 0.73 miles of Hwy. 59 in Crawford County in Van Buren from Sherwood St. to Pointer Trail Rd. The roadway will be widened from 2 to 3 lanes with three 12-foot lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk with a 3-foot greenspace on the left (west) side, and a 10-foot sidepath with a 6-foot greenspace on the right (east) side. On the west side, the sidewalk will extend south to Mt. Vista Blvd. On the east side, the sidepath will extend south to McKibben St. The project also includes intersection improvements at Mt. Vista Blvd., storm sewer installation, erosion control, earthwork, and ACHM pavement.
An open house, in-person, public involvement meeting will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm to discuss the proposed project. The in-person meeting will be held at Van Buren Senior Activity Center. The location address is 18 Lafayette Street, Van Buren, AR 72956.
