  • Put your business front and center by sponsoring a Chamber event, annual program, or digital media.

New network building events in 2022 include the Battle of the Business Bowling Tournament and the Local Lunch for restaurants.  BE PRO BE PROUD and Connecting Educators in Industry are focused on building the workforce pipeline for our community.  Also new this year are two annual program sponsorships, the Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Chamber Ambassadors, both focused on advocacy for a strong, business friendly climate in our community, county, and state.

Or promote your business utilizing the Chamber website, which received more than 145,000 visits in 2021. And don't forget the long running favorites; the Annual Meeting & Business Expo, the Golf Classic, Business After Hours, and the Arkansas Scholars Award Ceremony.

Member Spotlight - Chapters on Main

Thomas Jefferson once said, “I cannot live without books.” Fortunately for those who share this  sentiment with our nationś third president, there are places like Chapters on Main. Since opening their doors in May 2016, Chapters owners Alan and Debbie Foliart and Christian Westbrook have been welcoming patrons into their cozy world of books, and those who enter quickly discover that Chapters is much more than your average bookstore.

Inside, visitors will see shelves of both new and used inventory. Books on the main floor are arranged by genre and there is truly something for everyone. In the building’s basement, literary treasure hunters can dig until their hearts are content through shelf after shelf of previously-loved volumes. A delicious aroma beckons visitors to the back of store, where a barista waits in the coffee shop to whip up delicious espresso beverages. People can also enjoy brewed coffee, tea, and sweet baked goods. Upstairs is a children’s area filled with books, games, and activities. Entire families can come and enjoy the atmosphere. Chapters is a gathering place for friends, a study nook for students, and a place where young and old can come to unplug or get connected if needed (free wi-fi being available to customers).

Chapters on Main also hosts many fun-filled events throughout the year. From themed trivia nights to cookie-decorating classes, there is never a dull moment. Book signings are a frequent happening, allowing readers to get up close and personal with some of their favorite authors. For those readers who are aspiring authors themselves, Chapters also offers various writing workshops, such as the upcoming spring poetry workshop with Dr. Christian Gerard. This event will be held April 20 at 2 pm and tickets are available through the Chapters on Main Facebook page.

Chapters is a member of a couple of elite “clubs,” being named a finalist for the Times Record’s ¨Best of the Best” awards in 2018 and also recently receiving national recognition as the #1 Must See Bookstore in Arkansas by BOOKBUB.COM. However, according to Debbie Foliart, it is their membership in the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce that has proven to be one of their most valuable assets.

“A key investment we made when opening Chapters on Main was our Chamber membership. The Chamber of Commerce connects businesses with each other and helps to drive local business,” says Foliart.

She recognizes that the Chamber is far more than ribbon cuttings and local networking events.  “The Chamber provides a voice for small businesses in Little Rock by representing our unique issues, needs, and concerns. The annual directory with information about our city and Chamber members is a great advertising venue for us, and the all new Chamber website provides an extra place for consumers to find us when looking for a bookstore or coffee shop.”

As the Chamber continues to connect businesses like theirs with the contacts and resources needed for sustainability and growth, likewise the Foliarts and Westbrook will keep providing customers with a warm atmosphere in which to share a laugh, a cup of Joe, and a CHAPTER or two. Visit their website for hours and more information!
