    New network building events in 2022 include the Battle of the Business Bowling Tournament and the Local Lunch for restaurants.  BE PRO BE PROUD and Connecting Educators in Industry are focused on building the workforce pipeline for our community.  Also new this year are two annual program sponsorships, the Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Chamber Ambassadors, both focused on advocacy for a strong, business friendly climate in our community, county, and state.

    We are honored to recognize Vanessa Caldwell - May 2026 Amazing Ambassador! 
    Vanessa is the Regional Outreach Coordinator for Department of Commerce-- Arkansas Workforce Connections. She has worked there for 13 years, in various roles helping jobseekers, employers, and various agencies in the western region to connect them with training and employment opportunities.  She performs outreach to provide awareness about the partners located in the Fort Smith Workforce Center, sharing programs and services offered at Arkansas Workforce Connections.   The Fort Smith Workforce Center has: Unemployment Services, Employment Services, Adult Education, Western Arkansas Planning & Development District ( WAPDD), Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, Veteran Services, Services of the Blind, and AARP all partnering together to provide services to everyone in the western region.   She is a member of the Western Arkansas Workforce Development Board, leader of the Business Services Team for Workforce Connections, and a member of the Van Buren Rotary Club. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching basketball.
